ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN 4
In Semester 4, the studio investigates design by "engaging environment and community." Utilizing environmental characteristics and situations for the sustainability of people and the environment through a project with a particular user base within a specific setting. The initiatives comprise research on previous examples of environmentally conscious design projects, and sustainable problems.
Students investigate the environmental poetics of the building enclosure using precedent studies. Considering how it responds to the basic natural context, such as the sun, wind, heat, cold, energy issue, and the existing building context (which has built forms grouped together, such as community centres, centres for nature appreciation, and research centres). The intricacy of the programme, the geography and vegetation of the site, sociocultural events, and a range of passive design solutions should all be taken into account.
The design work should enhance the surroundings, blend in seamlessly with the site, and offer the community of users the greatest possible experiences. Students must incorporate research from the Asian Architecture module and illustrate how they have applied the knowledge they have learned from the Architecture and Environment module from previous semesters. A design narrative that strives to promote a sense of community is created by the environmental components and poetics of the context within a complicated spatial typology.
PROJECT 1
DISABILITY EXPERIENCE IN PAVILION
This study focuses on how material poetics might be understood in relation to user experience. Its purpose is to display architectural design that takes into account the usage of materials, environmental sustainability, and the activities involved. Additionally, it aims to impart knowledge of the fundamentals of building design, including how structural design is a component of architectural spatial design and the tactile qualities of the materials used in construction.
